As a part of our growth strategy, we are expanding our new Industrial Design offering. The legendary Tucker Viemeister has joined us as the Head of Industrial Design and will be guiding the team as we take on interesting challenges using our embedded design approach to client work and relationships.
The person we’re looking for
We’re looking for a kick-ass Senior Industrial Designer who brings prior experience in leading and managing industrial design projects and teams, and can provide mentorship to more junior designers.
Job Overview
As a Senior Industrial Designer, you will play a critical role within our design team. You will be responsible for driving innovative solutions as we work to create happier product experiences for our clients and their users. You will oversee projects from concept to completion and mentor less experienced designers. Your expertise will significantly contribute to the strategic direction of our design projects and overall product development.
Some things you will be responsible for:
- Lead and oversee the design process of new products or enhancements, from conceptualization to final execution.
- Create products that are both extremely functional and extremely beautiful.
- Develop sophisticated sketches, renderings, prototypes, and 3D models to communicate design concepts effectively.
- Leverage strong research and observational skills, in collaboration with researchers, to pinpoint challenges and rationalize solutions.
- Conduct comprehensive research on advanced design trends, materials, technologies, and market needs.
- Organize and run workshops, brainstorming, team meetings and design reviews.
- Support the planning of projects, ensure their smooth running, navigate complexity along the way.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and marketing teams to ensure product viability and market relevance.
- Act as a primary design contact for key clients, building strong relationships and understanding their strategic goals.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate designers, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth within the team.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design.
- 6+ years of experience in Industrial Design.
- Amazingly skilled with 3D modeling and rendering software.
- Strong understanding of usability and ergonomics.
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Great with clients.
- Experience with user experience (UX) design principles.
- Experience working with dedicated design researchers.
- Must be able to commute to our New York City office several times a week.
